LATTICE 2.0 INTRODUCTION IMAGE APPLICATIONS LIMITED

PatSee Version 3

PatSee 3 is contains many new features which have been requested by customers.  You may like to preview the latest version to see if you would like to upgrade by downloading it from our Software page .

This page lists the new features and has a list of common questions and answers.  If you have a question not covered here, please email us and we will include it here.

What's new?

1) More countries

Many more countries are now supported including Spain, Holland, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Denmark Finland, Latvia, African (AIPO), African (ARIPO) Monaco, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Sweden.

2) More patents from USPTO

Utility, Design, Plant, ReIssue, Defensive and SIR patents may now be downloaded.

3) Tiff file Viewer/Printer/Concatenator

PatSee no longer relies on an external TIFF program (wangimage) to view and print TIFF files.

Additionally, you can choose to save TIFF files as multi-page TIFFs.  This means that rather than having one file per page, all pages of the patent are stored in a single TIFF file.  Allowing easier disk organisation.

After downloading, the TIFF files (single and multi-page) may be opened within PatSee and viewed or printed.

4) WO patents

PatSee now supports WO and A3 publications correctly.

5) More languages

The help file and registration interface has now been translated into Korean.

6) Various minor user interface improvements and bug fixes.

7) PDF files

Many customers have asked for PDF file concatenation.  This is implemented implemented in PatSee Pro and is currently available for beta testing.

8) Depatis patents

The German Depatis site is very fast and PatSee PRO supports downloads from Depatis and also auto-hunt so you don't even need to know the 'kind code' (A1, B1 etc.)

8) Licensing

Licenses are now timed and can be purchased for periods of 1 or 2 years.  The actual time granted when a license is purchased is actually extended by a few weeks to enable users to install and configure their software and to address delays when trying to get support from their local IT department.  Once the license expires, PatSee returns back to evaluation mode and a new one needs to be purchased.

Tip: By selecting Help/About, you will be able to see how much time is left.

There are two versions of PatSee, PatSee LITE and PatSee PRO.  The LITE version is aimed at individuals and smaller practices and the PRO version at larger organisations.

PatSee LITE

A fully functional version of PatSee, with the restriction that only 5 patents may be entered for downloading at one time.  Once these are downloaded, up to 5 more may be entered and so on.

PatSee PRO

This version contains features useful for larger organisations, including Depatis Support, USPTO applications, and supports PDF merging.

1) Pasting patent numbers

If you have an electronic list of patent numbers, they may be copied to the clipboard and then pasted into PatSee.  For example, you could produce a list of numbers from your database and then paste them directly into PatSee, ready for downloading.  This saves much manual re-entry of data.

2)  Unlimited number of downloads

There is no practical limit to how many patents may be inputted at any one time.  PatSee has been tested with up to 5000 patents and this should be enough for most people.

If a license is not purchased, PatSee runs in evaluation mode and a nag screen pops up every so often.

3) Patent Ranges

Ranges of patent numbers may be entered into the Patent Builder such as US 5000000 to US 5000100 for bulk downloading.

4) PDF merging

PatSee PRO supports joining of PDF files. This means that a patent may be saved as a single muti-page PDF file if required.

5) German Depatis site

Patsee PRO supports downloading from Depatis, which is very fast and also supports 'auto-hunt' which will download all alternative kind codes if the requested patent cannot be found. Please note that the Depatis site is limited to a maximum of 20 patents per download, to protect the bandwidth of the server.

6) USPTO Application Patents

Application patents may now be downloaded from USPTO as TIFF files.

Questions and Answers

Can I upgrade from version 1.17?

Lattice 1.17 upgrades were availabe for around a year after version 2 was released. This has been discontinued, but you can still get discounts when ordering a number of copies. For more information, see the page http://www.imageapps.com/softshop.html

Can I still use my old version?

Yes, if you don't want to upgrade, you don't have to, but hopefully you will want to use all those new features!

What will it cost?

New copies of PatSee LITE sell at £50.00 and PRO at £250.00 for a 1 year license.  2 year licenses work out cheaper overall as do purchases for more than 2 users. For more detailed information, see http://www.imageapps.com/softshop.html for the volume discount schedule.

What is beta software?

It is software that has been tested by us and a number of beta testers, and is considered ready for testing by customers.  It may contain some bugs, some errors and the documentation may not be complete.

The idea of releasing a beta version is to gather feedback from end users before the software is finalised.  This way, any errors or features missing can be included in the final release.  If you purchase the software in the beta phase, you will be entitled to a free upgrade when it is finally released.
